Why Graspr

Reading is solitary. It shouldn't be.

Every article is missing half the story — the debate, the counter-arguments, the people who already went deep. Graspr brings that context to you.

1

Stop tab-hopping

No more pasting titles into Reddit, HN and Google. The relevant threads, videos and articles come to you — in one sidebar.

2

Read critically

See counter-arguments and expert takes beside any claim, so you judge what you read instead of taking it at face value.

3

Keep what matters

Highlight insights and sync them to Notion or Readwise, so the good stuff compounds instead of scrolling away.

Immersive Reader

And when you actually want to read it.

Hover the Graspr icon, hit Read, and the page becomes a reading room — no banners, no popups, no newsletter modal. Just the article, set the way you like it.

Designing data-intensive applications

A system is reliable when it continues to work correctly even when things go wrong — and things always go wrong.

Your notecompare with the failure model in ch. 8

The faults that cause problems are rarely the ones anticipated in the design phase, which is why fault tolerance is a property of operations as much as architecture.

1

Highlight, note in place

Write the note directly under the passage, where you can see how it reads — not hidden in a margin.

2

Read aloud

A real voice, sentence by sentence, that doesn’t break on decimals or abbreviations.

3

Focus mode

Dims everything except the paragraph you’re on. The page stops competing with you.

4

Compare two articles

Side by side, in one view — for when two sources disagree and you need to see exactly where.

5

Set to your eyes

Type, width and theme, remembered per site. Dyslexia-friendly faces and bionic reading included.

6

It picks up where you left

Reading position and a private streak, kept per article. Close the tab; come back to the same line.

Where others give up

Reader modes break on the pages you most want to read.

Half a page missing. Equations turned to gibberish. A blank screen where the article should be. We went and fixed the cases everyone else quietly gives up on.

Nothing goes missing

Modern sites build the page as you look at it. Most readers only see the empty frame underneath and show you a blank screen. Graspr reads what you can actually see.

Code you can copy

Line numbers usually come along for the ride and land in the middle of everything you paste. Not here — and the numbers that belong in the code stay put.

Equations stay equations

Formulas in papers normally collapse into a pile of loose symbols. Graspr keeps them whole and readable, the way the author wrote them.

Pictures come with it

Images that load as you scroll tend to vanish in reader modes. Graspr brings them, along with their captions.

It knows when a page isn’t the article

“Checking your browser…” is not an article. Graspr tells you the page didn’t load, instead of handing you the waiting room and calling it a story.

Tested, not hoped

We keep a collection of the pages known to defeat reader modes. Every one of them has to open correctly before an update goes out.

Send highlights on to Notion, Readwise or Obsidian — free, on every plan.

Common questions

What people ask before installing.

What does Graspr do?

Graspr adds a sidebar to your browser. On any page you're reading, it shows the discussions, videos and articles about that topic — without opening another tab.

Where do the results come from?

Discussions come from Hacker News, Reddit, Bluesky and GitHub, plus X on Pro. Videos come from YouTube. Articles are searched across the whole web, not a fixed list of sites.

What is the Articles tab?

A web-wide search for writing on the topic you're reading about — blog posts, documentation, papers, write-ups. Each one opens in Graspr's built-in reader, so you get the text without the ads and pop-ups.

Do I need an account?

You need a free account to see sidebar results. The reader, highlights and notes work without one.

Is Graspr free?

Yes. The free plan covers 25 AI-ranked searches a month, 50 saved articles, and a weekly digest. Pro is $12 a month: unlimited searches and saved articles, X threads in your results, and a daily AI digest instead of weekly. No card to start.

Does Graspr read my browsing history?

No. It reads the page you open it on, and only when you open it. It does not build a browsing profile. URLs are stripped from analytics before they leave your browser.

Does it work on Brave, Edge and Arc?

Yes. Graspr is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension, so it runs on any Chromium browser — Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc, Opera and Vivaldi.

How is it different from Newsit or CrowdWise?

Those link out to the Hacker News or Reddit thread for a URL. Graspr searches more sources, ranks by topic rather than exact URL match, and opens threads, videos and articles inside the sidebar. It also keeps what you saved.

Can I export my highlights?

Yes. Saved articles and highlights export to Notion, Readwise and Obsidian — on every plan, including free. Nothing is locked in.

Still deciding? Add Graspr to Chrome, or ask us.
